In September 1997, the Government of Finland, the Finnish international aid organization LKA, and the Mongolian University of Medical Sciences launched a joint "Oral Health" project; when it concluded in 2000, the full dental clinic it had built was handed over to the university’s School of Dentistry, founding what would become the Central Hospital of Oral and Maxillofacial Dentistry. In 2008, by order of the university director (order A/06), it became the "Erkhes" consulting polyclinic, and in 2011 it expanded into the "Oral Maxillofacial Hospital," with 5 departments and 34 staff.
In 2017 it moved into a new six-floor, 1,650 m² building with 32 treatment chairs, capable of serving 40–50 patients at a time. By order of the MNUMS director dated October 4, 2021 (order A206), it transitioned into the university hospital system and was established as the independent Central Hospital of Oral and Maxillofacial Dentistry.
Mission: to provide high-quality, prompt, evidence-based specialized oral and maxillofacial care to the population, unifying training, research, and clinical practice. Vision: to be a leading national university hospital, internationally accredited in diagnosis, treatment, training, and research.
The hospital has a total of 70 doctors, nurses, and staff providing care in general dentistry, prosthodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry and prevention, diagnostic imaging, and dental technology.
